Planning: Casting for out opening

For our opening 2 minutes of our Horror film, we currently have 4 actors which are needed but we have considered a range of different people who can play these roles. The roles which are needed to be acted are the victim, the mysterious killer, Jordan and Jordan's friend.

The most important role in the opening 2 minutes will be Jordan as he is the main character and the camera is mostly on him, we are hoping we get an actor which can show fear and can stay serious throughout filming. The least important role is the part of Jordan's friend, his/her part will be around 5 seconds long and consists of making Jordan scared. This role can be practically played by anyone but we will make sure we pick a person who can act professionally through filming.the other two characters who we will need to find is a killer whose face wont be shown but his movements will be needed to be shown also a victim will need a lot of facial features as they need to put off a scared image.

The following people are those which we are considering to play these roles...

Jordan Bignell
Sex - Male

Age - 17

Acting history - Small part in christmas play 2005.

He is most likely to get of Jordan as not a lot of skills to do with acting will be needed as he will just be walking home he will just need to give of facial expressions and hardly any speech is needed, and he will most likely have a lot of free time which would be useful and he is easily accessible

Josh Luthayi
Sex: Male

Age; 16

Acting history: Played in small play at primary schools also took Drama as one of his GCSE options.

Josh is most likely to get the victim role as he has had drama experiences and they will defiantly be needed especially facial features as he will be bound and something around his face to stop him speaking also he is also easily accessible

George Hopkins
Sex: Male

Age:  17

Acting history:   Studied Drama in GCSE and currently studies it for A-Level.
George is possibly available for the friend role as it is a very short part also he is not that accessible also he has acting experience.

Mariella Ralph
Sex: Female
Age: 16
Acting history:None
Mariella does't have any acting history but is also very accessible and could be the role for Jordan friend also as there is basically no experience needed

Thomas Bates
Sex:  Male

Age: 16

Acting history: Studied Drama in GCSE and currently studies it for A-Level.

Tom would be available for the role of the killer or the victim because of his acting experience also he is quite accessible

Lisa Eady
sex: female

Age: 17

Acting history: Studied Drama in GCSE and currently studies it for A-Level.
Lisa would be good for either the victims role because of her acting experience also she could be jordans friend as its a small role for anyone really plus she is easily accessible

Becca Jane Payne

sex: female

Age: 16

Acting history: None.

Becca would be good for Jordan's friend as its a small role for anyone really plus she is easily accessible.

Planning : Location Planning

As a group, we decided on the two locations which we will use in our opening 2 minutes. We have chose these locations as they are easily accessable to ours and our casts demands.  The 2 locations we have chose are a garage which is owned by myself and the school in which we currently attend.

We have chose the Garage as we initially based our film around it so the victims can be killed in it, thankfully we have the access of a large garage in which we can use and it has the right equipment we can use which will make the opening 2 minutes much more realistic.
(picture of garage)

We chose the school as again our plot was based around Jordan walking home from school and the school which we currently attend is flexible enough for us to film their as it doesn't close til around 5pm, it is also flexible as all our casts also currently attend the school which makes it easier for us to film.

Planning: A Treatment for the Opening 2 Minutes (including titles) of Hung-over

The opening scene will be the school bell ringing whilst Jordan walks out of school.

The first flashback would happen after around 8-10 seconds, the flashback would be in a dark garage, camera would have a close-up shot of different torture equipment. This would last for around 5 seconds. Titles In the bottom right corner saying ‘Produced by Hungry Films’

It will go back to Jordan walking home from school, Jordan receives a phone call and answers, there was no answer and the viewer would hear just breathing, Jordan puts down the phone.

A flashback in the garage again, you see the door close and a close shot of a pair of feet walking in slowly, Titles come up in bottom left corner saying ‘Directed by Josh Thorley and Deet Bains’

The camera goes back to Jordan, who seems very conscious at the fact he was rang but there was no answer, he keeps looking around to see if anybody is following him. Close up of Jordan’s face as he looks around.

Flashback again and the camera is behind a man strapped into the chair, a dark character walks up to the man and starts to unstrap him from the chair. Title in the bottom left corner saying ‘Filmed by…’

Tension is rising and close up of Jordan's face walking so there is no looking space, he keeps looking behind him and his phone rings again, he leaves it.

The camera starts to switch from flashback to jordan quicker which would build up the tension, another flashback happens again and the character which was strapped in the chair is standing up on the chair with a bag on his head , the mysterious man is adjusting a rope which is attached from the roof. Titles in this clip would be the cast which would be scattered across the screen.

Another quick clip of Jordan becoming scared and no looking space, this clip would be around 5 seconds long.

Goes back to the garage in which the man standing on the chair has the rope around his neck and the mysterious man is about to push him off the chair. Just about as the man is going to be hung, it flashes back to Jordan.

When it flashes back to Jordan, a fake scare would occur as Jordan is made to jump by a friend which has ran up from behind. The title of the movie ‘The Hung-Over’ would then appear.

Research : The importance of sound in horror films

The importance and why it makes the audience scared.
Sound is an aspect in horror films that is most over looked but just as important as actual footage. Without sound the scenes would not be as distinct for example in a scene where someone is going to be killed the sound would build up with the scene and then there would be a loud noise to go with the scene to make it better. The reasons why sound scares the audience, "Scientists have found that many of the emotionally-evocative moments in some of the most popular films are enhanced with a sound score that exploits the human brain’s natural aversion to the non-linear sounds widely used in the animal kingdom to express fear and distress." A way that anyone can see the importance of sound when trying to show a scary scene is to turn off the volume whilst it is on and it would not create no where near the same effect.

The sound within horror movies can be so important for example most horror films have there own theme tunes and specific played when the victim usual dies, these is very helpful and when played audiences can usually link them to the film in which it was originally played in.

When sound is shown well in films

Psycho
Sound is shown very well in films such as Psycho. the scene where they are in the shower and the curtains open and a lady gets stabbed is a great scene where it shows how powerful the sound can be. the reason why it is so powerful is because there is basically all sound that makes it scary for example, as the shower curtain is drawn and the man is standing there with a knife and the woman's scream is very powerful and has a great impact on the audience. Also the build up music and the drop of the music works very well also to build tension and then scare them as the killing starts. The build up was so good that the music has become very popular and common to people. The video of the scene in Psycho which shows this all is just below.

Jaws
Another film in which sound is shown to be very powerful and has a huge impact on the type of message it is trying to get across to the audience. the reason why it is so good in jaws is because the build up music to the killing scenes are very good because they have deep bass sounds which gradually gets louder and faster as the shark begins to get closer it sounds as if it resembling a heart beat of the victim or the audience. This is also another film in which the music has become very popular. The soundtrack of the theme tune of jaws is below.

The Auditory symbol

In most horror films, a certain melody or sounds serves as a symbol for the main threat in the film. This is achieved by a extracting a small portion of the films characteristic sounds and assigning it to the main threat by playing the sound whenever the threat is back into focus. The use of the auditory symbol helps the producers of the film by adding the threat without actually using any visual representation.

Over all i have found from my research that sound is just as or more important than the actual visual footage that is shown. Without it music or sound in the clip it would not get across the type of message it wanted to its audience. Therefor it is very important and when creating a film sound is probably concentrated on more than the clips as this probably creates the most tension which is key in horror films.

Research - Target Audience Feedback Regarding Your Possible Openings

These are some of the responses that we got from our research, we gave them a copy of the synopsis and asked them how they thought the film should start. from this we also got a bases of the two different opening so it was helpful.

Research: The art of the title

During the lesson we were asked to look at the openings of a teen horror of our choice. The film which i chose to do was called The Ward by John Carpenter. the plot of the film is centered on an institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost. The picture below is where i analysed the opening, i created a timeline from 0:00 - 2:28 as that was how long the opening was and had three other headings Titles, Audio and Visuals. In the titles section i had to pause the video and write down on the timeline for each title that appeared. The visuals section was the longest as it was what i could see and it was constantly changing. The audio was what i could hear this was also a hard section as sometimes the sounds would overlap and i sometimes could not make out what noise was being made. overall from doing this i have found out the great detail that is put into films as i got so much information from just two minutes. This was also helpful as i will know how the standard of detail must be in my opening.

Planning: Two possible opening for our film

After looking at the responses we got back from our target audience we have been discussing and came up with different openings to out movie Hungover.

The first one is it starts of with a quick flash back and shows a random victim inside of the garage in which Jordan will be held and then the killer comes in (no face shown) and kills the victim. it then skips to Jordan and his friends leaving school and being happy. The titles will then appear.

The film would start with Jordan and his friends walking home from school, but tension would start to rise as the camera notices somebody following them, as the unknown person getting closer we would use a fake scare, for example one of there other friends jumps out at them as a joke. whilst They are being followed it could every now and then come up with another title as his journey comes to an end.

Research: Sharing our pitch with our target audience

This is a synopsis of our film -

Jordan and a couple of his friends have recently finished school and plan to celebrate by drinking around a friends house. As the night passes people start to randomly disappear. The next morning Jordan sees a car, belonging to a friend who has gone missing, parked outside a garage. As he searches for his friend in the garage he is unexpectedly hit causing him to become unconscious. As he wakes up he finds himself in a race to escape from the killers grasp.

To find out people's views on our synopsis, we voice recorded several different peoples view on what we could film for the first 2 minutes of our film. Their views, as the target audience, will help us create an opening 2 minutes which would be suitable and interesting for the target audience.

Planning: Hungry films 60 second pitch

Deet: Hi I'm Deet
Josh: And I'm Josh and together we are called Hungry Films
Josh: Through a discussion we cam to a conclusion that we are targeting a 15+ age the reason why is because from our research we found out that this is the most popular age within the film industry. Also from looking at the BBFC ( British board of film classification) website we found out that our film fits within the guidelines for a 15 because of the horror content.
Deet: The name of our film, 'Hung-over' relates to the concept of the plot, you could say it was a pun. The concept of our film is about a group of students who've recently finished school, their plan is to celebrate at a friends house by getting drunk, however one of the group members inexplicably disappears but nobody notices until the next morning. Jordan, who was at the house the night before, stumbles upon his friends car which is parked outside a garage, Jordan decided to enter the garage where he finds his friend hung from the ceiling, Jordan falls unconscious. Once Jordan wakes up he finds himself in a race to escape this unknown killer who's been killing all of his drunk friends.
Deet: That was our 60 second pitch.

Planning: plot of our horror film

I was not there in the lesson whilst my partner josh planned it but once he finished school we spoke about it and discussed ideas we started brainstorming our first initial ideas for our horror film, due to the plot of the film, we've decided to name our film 'Hang-over', you will notice once you've read the plot that the title is a kind of pun. Hang-over is going to be a slasher type horror film and we will be targeting at 15 years and above.

The concept of 'Hang-over' is about a group of anonymous people who are keen to have a good night by getting completely drunk, however there night start to become odd as people start to vanish inexplicably. Whilst trying to find his friend after a long night of drinking, Jordan stumbles across his friends car which is parked outside a garage, Jordan finds his friend hung from the ceiling then falls unconscious, once he wakes up he finds himself in a race to escape from this unknown killer whose  target is to kill Jordan. In the end Jordan escapes from the killers grasps and makes it to his friends car which is parked outside, however the car won't start leaving Jordan in certain danger, the killer, who's face has still not been uncovered, finds Jordan trapped in the Car and instinctively kills him. The killers face is finally shown after killing Jordan as he is walking away from the scene, leaving the film on a cliffhanger.

Research: Dead Mary, Dead Wood and Wrong Turn openings

During our lesson of looking at typical horror film conventions we looked at three different horror film openings (the first 5 minutes) Dead Mary, Wrong turn. In class we had a tick list with the most common conventions this included secluded location, characters forget an obvious threat, power is cut, problem with phone, character investigates a strange noise, character runs upstairs (not outside), character hides by a window/behind a door, character inexplicably falls over, vehicle won't start, fake scare, warning goes unheeded, someone dies in 5 minutes, x years before/later, stormy weather and character takes a short cut.

The most common conventions in each of the trailers where  a fake scare and someone dying in the first 5 minutes.  also in the trailer they used the male as being the dominant one and doing the work and the female tends to not do much.

Below is the opening to Dead Mary. i chose to show this one because had the most conventions in and showed them clearly, For example it showed a secluded location as it was set in the woods, a character investigating a weird noise when the female character comes out of the tent, a fake scare, the character decides to take a shortcut as he jumps across the river instead of going round and it shows the male as being more dominant and he has gone out and the female stayed in the tent

Research : British Board of film classification

I have been asked as part of my research to look into the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification). the reason why we have been asked for this is because soon we will be producing our own two minute long trailer for a horror film therefor we must know what is suitable and allowed to be put into the into out trailer so we have to be careful in the things we choose to put into the trailer. Also as it is targeted at age 15 and above this is the most popular target audience of last year so it has a big target audience.

Who are they?
The british broad of classification is an organization who are responsible for the age ratings suitability of the things that are shown in a film. they were established in 1912. Also they have the power to cut out scenes from a movie or tell the directors to change it if they feel it is too extreme also they can completely reject the film all together. The BBFC also classifies video games which are released under the the Video Recordings Act 1984. The BBFC will not classify material which it believes to be in breach of the criminal law.

The Guidelines
There are 5 main types of different age classifications for films U,PG,12,15 and 18. All of them have been set by the BBFC. they base the guidelines of the age ratings they give on films on a few factors such as Drug use, violence, language and etc. Below are the age rating and what is allowed in them.

What is not allowed in a U :

U - Universal (suitable for all ages)

In a U there is no discrimination or behavior that is allowed unless it has clearly been approved of. No references to illegal drugs or drug misuse unless they are infrequent and innocuous, or there is a clear educational purpose or anti-drug message suitable for young children. Scary sequences should be mild, brief and unlikely to cause undue anxiety to young children. The outcome should be reassuring. Infrequent use only of very mild bad language. No potentially dangerous behavior which young children are likely to copy. No emphasis on realistic or easily accessible weapons. Occasional natural nudity, with no sexual context. Mild sexual behavior for example, kissing and references only for example, to ‘making love’. Mild violence only. Occasional mild threat or menace only. While problematic themes may be present, their treatment must be sensitive and appropriate for young children.

PG - Parental Guidance
The discrimination or behavior in a PG is unlikely to be acceptable unless clearly disapproved of or in an educational or historical context.  Discrimination by a character with which children can readily identify is unlikely to be acceptable. reference to drugs or drug misuse must be innocuous or carry a suitable anti-drug message. The horror content in the movie must be should not be prolonged or intense. Fantasy settings may be a mitigating factor. the imitable behavior in the film must be no detail of potentially dangerous behavior which young children are likely to copy. No glamorization of realistic or easily accessible weapons. the language must be only mild bad language.

In a 12 no one under the age of 12 is allowed to watch that movie unless it is a 12A where someone younger could watch the film if they are accompanied by an adult. the guidelines for a 12/12A are -

Discriminatory language or behavior must not be endorsed by the work as a whole. Aggressive discriminatory language or behavior is unlikely to be acceptable unless clearly condemned. Any misuse of drugs must be infrequent and should not be glamorized or give instructional detail. Moderate physical and psychological threat may be permitted, provided disturbing sequences are not frequent or sustained. Dangerous behavior (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied, or appear pain or harm free.  Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorized. Moderate language is allowed. The use of strong language for example, ‘fuck’ must be infrequent. Nudity is allowed, but in a sexual context must be brief and discreet. Sexual activity may be briefly and discreetly portrayed. Sex references should not go beyond what is suitable for young teenagers. Frequent crude references are unlikely to be acceptable. Mature themes are acceptable, but their treatment must be suitable for young teenagers. Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification.

A 15 means that anyone who is under the age of 15 will not be able to watch the film, the guidelines are -
The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behavior. Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances for example, aerosols or solvents is unlikely to be acceptable. Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised. Dangerous behavior for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorized. There may be frequent use of strong language for example, ‘fuck’. The strongest  terms for example, ‘cunt’ may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable. Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context. Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behavior, but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context. Works whose primary purpose is sexual arousal or stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.
In a 18 certificated film no one under the age is able to watch. 18 rated films do not have many guidelines as they are based at adults and they should be ale to choose what they want to watch, but from the BBFC website the information based on 18 rated films that may be restrictions from them are -
where the material is in breach of the criminal law, or has been created through the commission of a criminal offence. where material or treatment appears to the BBFC to risk harm to individuals or, through their behavior, to society – for example, any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts, or of illegal drug use, which may cause harm to public health or morals. This may include portrayals of sexual or sexualised violence which might, for example, eroticise or endorse sexual assault. where there are more explicit images of sexual activity which cannot be justified by context. Such images may be appropriate in ‘R18’ works, and in ‘sex works’ .
R18-To be shown only in licensed cinemas, or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults of not less than 18 years old
The "R18" category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex or strong fetish material involving adults. Films may only be shown to adults in specially licensed cinemas, and video works may be supplied to adults in licensed sex shops. The following content is not acceptable:

  • Any material which is in breach of the criminal law.
  • Material likely to encourage an interest in sexual abusive activity.
  • The portrayal of any sexual activity which involves lack of consent.
  • The infliction of pain or acts which may cause lasting physical harm, whether real or simulated.
  • Penetration by any object associated with violence or likely to cause physical harm.
  • Any sexual threats, humiliation or abuse which does not form part of clearly-consenting role-playing game.

Research: Horror Audiences

Why people enjoy horror films?
There are may different reasons why people enjoy horror movies, for example many people enjoy them because it gives them a thrill that other genres of films do not and it creates a lot of suspense which other films do not do as well as horror films and the the suspense is either converted into a big scare or an anti-scare which a lot of people enjoy because it is hard to expect what is going to happen. also from the suspense made in the films and the tension that they create may people get an adrenaline rush from them which is very good for the entertainment purposes. Also from the horror films and the way that they are made ad the camera skills put into them many people will put themselves into the situation that the character i the scree is doing which gives a lot more excitement also films that do this very well is where the camera is filmed through POV (Point of view), films which do this well are films like The Blair Witch Project and Rec.

Other reasons why people tend to enjoy them so much could be of the fact that they are liked with real lives and the viewer tends to think this could be them by putting themselves in their situation. One of the biggest factors i feel for most people and even me which makes horror films so enjoyable is when you watch them with a group of people e.g. family or friends, the reason why is people tend to react off of other peoples rections which makes it more entertaining as they would probably jump from their screams which is very good. Also people watch the horror films could be because of facing their fears, sor example they may watch the films because they have been pressured by their friends or someone then they have watched it they may feel as if they have accomplished something and feel proud as well as very scared.

In conclusion i feel there are many different ways for why people watch and enjoy horror but i feel the main reason for the horror films is because of the suspence that is built and the thrills that came out of it when there is a scary scene. personally i do enjoy these from horror films but the main aspect for me enjoying horror films is watching it with friends because their reactions are the ones that usual make me jump as i have seen so many horror films i do not tend to jump as i know what is going to happen. Also what makes horror films entertaining for me is that i like it when they have a good plot to it and there is not just a pshycopath running around killing people for no reason. overall i feel as if horror films are very entertaining and fun this is why it has such a broad audience of different types of people and ages.

From my results it got back some helpful information such as what people enjoy in horror films and what they expect so i could use this information for my horror opening to help it be better. Also i have a range of different favorite horror movies so i could use these as bases and look at them and see if i liked any pf the techniques used in them. I feel though i could do my questionnaire again and improve my question because some of them had no relevance to my research such as What gender they are and two of the questions were quite similar so it was not that good. overall i feel i got sufficient information back to help me with my opening.

Research: History of horror 2000 - Present

This has been a very entertaining time for horror films. i feel this was as i think that horror films have been changed even more now to build the suspense a lot more and to keep the viewer guessing. also i feel that they have more complex now and more to do with everyday people so it makes the films feel more personal making it scarier.

Final Destination 2000
This film is about a couple of students going on a school trip and one of them has a vision of what is going to happen them and a handful of people get out and cheat death and therefor death tries to catch up with them and hunt them down through a specific order.

Thir13en Ghosts 2001
Is a film about people who go into a house to retrieve something but as they do they unleash the ghosts in which are trapped their resulting in them being killed. this was a average horror film for me but was good as it showed ghosts as that is one of the things which make me scared within movies.

2002 was a good year for horror films i feel as they created a lot of movies in which i found very entertaining plus they made a few very successful horror in this years

28 days later 2002
Is a film about a man who wakes up hospital and as he walks out he can not see anyone and is in deserted London and then he finds out there is an infection which turned people into zombie like characters and he must escape to survive. this was entertaining for me as it all came together nicely and was very smooth in the way next sequences occurred.

dog Soldiers 2002
Is a film about a military exercise in which it goes wrong. i have not seen this film but i have heard it is a very entertaining film to do with ware wolves.

resident evil 2002
is a films about a experiment which ends up going wrong and the people who come in contact with a substance become zombies. i enjoyed these movies a lot as they were entertaining because of how they were trapped and had to escape i also enjoyed the sequels and liked how they linked together.

the ring 2002
Is a story about a video in which a girl is and anyone who watches the tape will get killed by a girl. this film for me was different as it was around a tape in which the killer would come but also i found it entertaining. This also made me scared to look at fuzzy screens as a child.

Freddy V Jason 2003
This film is where the two classics Freddy Crueger and Jason come together in which they start of as a team and then turn against each other in a battle. For  me this film was okay but was not as good as the original films in which they were separate in.

Alien V Predator 2004
This is also a film in which two classics alien and predators came together as they show there rivalries and how different they are. Unlike Freddy V Jason i think that this collaboration came together a lot better and is an very entertaining thing.

Saw 2004
Is a film where there is a serial killer but he does not kill his victims he tests them to do painful things for them to release themselves. this is interesting as it not the same. The first one for me was probably the best out of all of the sequels and they gradually got worse as they brought out more of the saw films.

30 Days of night 2007
Is a film about when vampires come into a village in which it is a season where it is very heavy snow and they can't get out. i liked this film because they are trapped and have to try and find a way to escape.

Paranormal Activity 2007
Is a film about a couple where a demon happens to be there and has an obsession with the girl and ends up trying to possess here. this film was very good as it builds tension very well also the plot of the film was quite enjoyable and once suspense had been built they would make it very good and make you jump

Eden Lake 2008
Is about a couple who are trying to go on holiday by the lake and then they end up being terrorized by a group of teenagers when they accidently  do something which causes the teens to get very mad and attack them

The haunting in Connecticut  2009
The plot After a family is forced to relocate for their son's health, they begin experiencing supernatural behavior in their new home, which turns out to be a former mortuary.

The human centipede 2 2011
This film is about a crazy man who decides to kidnap strangers and try and make them into a centipede by joining them together. For me this film was very disgusting which could be seen as good from a horror point of view it was very gory and was not a film i enjoyed.

Fright night 2011
Is a film about a boy who has a new neighbour move in and he believes he is a vampire. this was a entertaining move as i had not scene the original and the story was very good.

The devil inside 2012
In Italy, a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism. This film was quite entertaining until the end where it was very silly and did not fit in with the film at all

Sinister 2012
Found footage helps a true-crime author realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity. This film was good as it came together well at the end and was just good in general.

Throughout my research in this topic i have noticed the difference in horror films over time and the similarities for example over the years films have been based on the originals made much earlier and they have used the same ideas for remakes but the differences are that they have adapted greatly and a lot more techniques are used to create fear for the viewer. from the films i must say my favorite films where in the 1970's era as this is when for me the best classics and the min horror movies were originally made. Also i feel in this present time now horror films have become more demon and possession based where as in previous years they would be more psychopath and more physical viewing based this just shows how horror films must adapt to keep interest for its audiences. I also found out from the research is as the time has gone on in the films the amount of complexity has grown a lot this may be to make it feel like it is not predictable.
