Construction: EDITING COMPLETE
In the lesson today me and my partner Josh Thorley managed to complete all the editing that we had left for our opening two minute movie. we knew it was finished because we thought there was nothing we could really add to it to make it any better, we made sure that we had finished the titles, sound and any other transitions that would make the film look good. We hope our film is up to a good enough standard to be able to get us a good mark.
Construction: Video Introduction
In the lesson today decided that our film opening would much benefit if we included a introduction that we constructed ourselves. the reasons why we think it would be quite beneficial is because it will make it look a lot more professional and it will help us get the time closer to the target of two minutes. The software that we decided to use for our opening introduction is Adobe After Effects as it is a very good software for making very good results. Not only did we have to create the animation, we also had to find sound effects which would link in with the movements of the animation, this was a long, thought out process which took time however we believe we sorted out the right sound effects which matched the animation.

Evaluation: Planning
Now that me and my partner Josh Thorley are close to finishing our two minute film opening we have decided that we need to start preparing for our evaluations. we have decided as a group we are going to do our evaluation on Prezi but we are also going to include different types of media forms such as videos of us two talking about the evaluation questions.
The questions
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of film openings)
2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
7. Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Construction: Day 3
In the next stage of editing our 2 minute film opening, we started to add titles and sound. The reason in why we have added titles was because we partly wanted to lengthen the time of our movie but also i believe it adds tension to the start of the film. We had added music so the start of the film did not become boring and we also believe that the music is an incredibly important part of a film as it adds tension and creates the mood of the scene. We edited our titles so that they are all the same and the font and background colour was the same so that the finished edit didn't look un-professional. We had used the colours black and white in the titles which create a negative mood straight away even if the audience haven't watched any of the clips yet, the white also shows purity whilst the black shows darkness. As you can see i have shown an image of the title in the top left corner we have kept them plain and added an earthquake effect to it
We picked the music which would fit our movie perfectly as it is one of the most important parts of the movie because as I said it creates the mood and creates tension. Although we had tried to create music on GarageBand we didn't feel we could create a good enough song which would suite the film, instead we chose music of a copyright free website called freeplaymusic.com which allowed us to pick a good composed song for free.

Construction: day 2
During the second day we decided that we start making the sounds that we would have playing during our film. The software that we we used to make the music come together was garage band. we are quite new to garage band so it took us a while for us to get to grips with it and we didn't really know what music sound would go well with each other and the video. Construction: Editing day 1
Today was our first day of filming. the things we did during today's lesson were all the basics we basically got all of our footage and then trimmed them so that they would work well together and then we would the put them together. One probably that we did come across was that when we would play back the clips half of the footage would be clipped out but hen we eventually come up with a solution in which we had to keep on rendering the clips together .

Construction : Editing clips using final cut express
During today's lesson we were given some clips in which we were told to edit them by using final cut express. This was the first time we had used final cut to edit anything. We were taken through the basics during the editing such as cutting clips, importing sounds and adding titles. From the clips we altered the order they were filmed in to create a film that worked well to the right is a picture of my movie whilst i was editing it in final cut pro. Once it was put together it was not a brilliant piece of film as the filming was done quickly so it was not that easy to put together as well so the filming was to blame.
Research: Final Cut Express
Now that my group have got all our clips that we need for our filming we will now be going onto the editing stage which we will do using the final cut express software. By using final cut it will enable the group to use all the function that are on the software which are very helpful. Some of the functions that are available for us during the editing are things such as editing the sound, cutting clips, colour corrections, titles over the image etc. Final cut is such a good software that it is even used to edit professionally and has been used in quite popular films such as The social network. Final cut is a very good software but it also comes with quite a high price off around £500. The other different functions that are available to users whilst using final cut are - Multichannel Audio Editing, Unified importing, Streamlined share, Dual viewing screens, RED camera support, Copy and paste attributes, One step freeze frames, Flexible clip connections, Drop shadow and Enhanced compound clips. As you can see final cut has a lot of features other then the ones i have named. Filming: complete
Today we have finished all of our filming and got all the shots that we needed for our film. we are now in a position where we will be able to start our editing using final cut pro.

Filming:Day 3
Our third and hopefully our final day to do our recording is on the 21st of february.
Location
The locations of today will be in a variety of places such as an alley way, out side of school and in a street etc.
What we did?
Location
The locations of today will be in a variety of places such as an alley way, out side of school and in a street etc.
What we did?
We needed to capture footage of our main character walking home from school, because of the various different flashbacks we filmed each shot individually instead of one long scene and cutting it when editing, this would make the edited film look more professional when played. We also waited a while until the sun came out so that the clips from when we first started filming matched.
Filiming: Day 2
Our second filming session took place on the Tuesday 12th February
Location:
we started filming in my garage.
What we done?
We started filming the flashbacks which would occur during the opening 2 minutes, we were very cautious about mise-en-scene during filming as we had to make the garage seem a lot more secluded and creepy, we also planned out what the characters would wear so they would match the scary theme. Yet again we made sure we had at least each shot filmed 2-3 times in different angles so that we had a variety to edit with. We are planning to do our final set of filming soon.

Filming: Day 1
We started filming on Wednesday 6th February.
Our first shots of are films are Jordan walking out of Kettering Buccleuchs Academys front entrance.
What we did
Today we started filming the first opening shots for our 2 minute opening, we familiarize ourselves with the equipment such as the camera and the tripod so that we knew the ins and outs before actually filming. During filming we used different shot techniques such as over-shoulder shot and also tracking shot. We filmed each shot around 2-3 times so that we have a lot of footage when it comes to editing and also filmed some shots in different angles to see what it would look like when we put the clips together. So far we have filmed around 20 seconds of footage.
Planning: Storyboards
Whilst doing our planning we decided to create a story board. The reason why we made a story board is because they are very helpful when it comes to filming. Also is it is quite detailed it has all of the shots on it that we will need.
to the left is a picture of 2 shots we have added to our storyboards..

Planning: Arranging Roles
we have finally came to a conclusion about what our roles will be in our group when we begin to film, we have chose our roles by picking what we all feel is our best job and that we feel we know what we're doing when doing our jobs. The jobs which needed to be done are filming, planning the mise-en-scene and casting. The following is who will be arranged to do these roles.
Filming - The filming will be done by both me and my partner as we will be able to discuss which are the best possible shots.
Planning the miss-en-scene - As we are filming in my garage, we feel it would be best if i arranged what will be in the garage and where everything will be placed.
Casting - We have shortened our potential cast list down to the final 3 which will be featuring to our film, these people are Jordan Bignell, Josh Luthayi and James Pearce who we didn't actually shortlist however all of our remaining shortlisted cast would not be eligible to be able to film on our planned date but James can and fits the character he will be playing.

Planning: To-Do list
In the lesson today me and my partner Josh Thorley Planned what we would need to complete in the next couple of weeks before half term. To be able to meet our deadline we must complete the following:
- A shot list
- Story board to be completed
- Filming
- Arranging roles between the group

Planning: Location Planning
As a group, we decided on the two locations which we will use in our opening 2 minutes. We have chose these locations as they are easily accessable to ours and our casts demands. The 2 locations we have chose are a garage which is owned by me and the school in which we currently attend.
Our First Location
For our trailer we discussed a few different places in which we should record it. The first location we came up with is my garage as it is quite old and can be made to look scary. Also there is quite a bit of room for us to alter and add props into it. Another reason why this location is a good idea is because it is clear that it is a desolate secluded so this will give off a good image of what we want the audience to picture. for our garage seem we will not be using the whole of it only a small part as we will be mainly concentrating on the the victim who will be bound to a chair and not be able to move. From the pictures below you can see that the garage is obviously not ready so we will need to put in extra work to set the scene for the garage. Our First Location
Our second location
We chose the school as again our plot was based around Jordan walking home from school and the school which we currently attend is flexible enough for us to film their as it doesn't close til around 5pm, it is also flexible as all our casts also currently attend the school which makes it easier for us to film.
